It is December 26th. We truly had a memorable Christmas! This was one that will go down in the books, as the Christmas horribilis! Our home was looking exceptionally beautiful this year. Fully decorated for both Christmas and Hanukkah. We hosted a beautiful Christmas holiday party, for one of my son’s baseball teams’. We also hosted a magical Hanukkah party, on the first night of Hanukkah. I have decorated and cooked to my heart’s content! All the while, feeling physically worse by the day! I had a culture taken at my wonderful doctor’s office, but it takes a week to get accurate results. All the while, I was untreated and getting worse. When I finally went to the ER and was given drugs for my ailments, my pain level was a “10”. It takes 24-48 hours for an antibiotic to begin to do its work. Needless to say, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were filled with pain, a foggy mind, from pain medicine, and culminating in an anxiety attack! My husband came down with the flu, and coughed over me all night. My mother, over the phone, prayed me through. My husband and I didn’t know which of us was strong enough to drive our children and dogs home, from where we had spent Christmas. I could not drive due to the effects of the pain medication. Our Christmas dinner was driving through Popeyes Fried Chicken, with our children and our dogs! We did make it home! I managed to eat my English Christmas Pudding, with hot custard, a childhood tradition! We all fell into bed! And that was Christmas! I ordered deli tonight, and between the matzo ball soup and the stuffed cabbage and corned beef sandwiches, we are all doing much better! I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday! I am praying that next Christmas, I will get to be with my entire living family, especially the newest member, who is 7 months now. She is very dear to my heart, and I have held her only once.
